F. Common Errors: Placement and Overuse

- (This is grammatically correct but weak. Moreover should add a point, not just list another bad thing. In addition or What's more is better for informal listing).
- ✗ Clunky: Therefore*, the data, in fact, shows, needless to say*, a clear trend.
- Why it's wrong: Overusing markers makes your writing sound unnatural and difficult to read. Choose one and place it effectively.
- ✓ Better: The data shows a clear trend. Therefore, we can conclude...
Placement: Most markers go at the start of a clause. However, some, like indeed or in fact, can be placed mid-sentence for emphasis.
